Venue or host area: Six markets across the old town: Place des Dominicains, Place de l'Ancienne Douane, Place Jeanne d'Arc, Place des Six Montagnes Noires in Petite Venise, the Koïfhus, and the Gourmet Market on Rue de la Montagne Verte.
Access: Entry to the six markets is free and unticketed, with some attractions and the indoor Koïfhus charging or operating separately. The 2026 park-and-ride and shuttle arrangements were prior-edition logistics and are not confirmed for 2027.
02 · Plan the visit
Plan around the official access route
Colmar's old town is compact and walkable from the station, roughly fifteen minutes on foot. During the 2026 market, vehicle access to the centre was restricted during market hours, with a free shuttle from the Bleylé car park and weekend park-and-ride. Alsace in December is cold and the six sites are spread far enough apart to fill an afternoon.
Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview
What this event is
Six separate Christmas markets across Colmar's old town, each in its own square or covered hall, running from late November to the end of December. The markets are within walking distance of each other, in a town of half-timbered houses and canals, and each has a different emphasis — crafts, food, children's activities or local produce.
Colmar's markets are the most photographed in Alsace, largely because of the setting: the Little Venice district, the coloured houses and a scale that stays walkable. The six-site structure means the market is spread through the town rather than concentrated in one square, which keeps the old town itself as the attraction.
History
Colmar's Christmas markets were revived in the 1980s, building on the region's older Alsatian Advent traditions, and grew into one of the largest Christmas events in France. The 2026 markets ran from 23 November to 29 December across the six sites, and the 2027 dates had not been published at review.
