Privacy
No accounts, no advertising, no cookies
This site is a set of static pages. It has no login, no advertising network and no cookie banner. What little it does record is described below in plain language.
What is stored on your device
One thing: the Destination Selector keeps your answers and your position in the questionnaire in your browser's session storage, under the key where-next-suggestions-v1. That is what lets you switch tabs and come back without starting over.
It never leaves your browser, it is not readable by us, and it disappears when you close the tab. Clearing your browser data removes it immediately. No cookies are set, and there is no local storage, fingerprinting or device identifier.
What the server sees
Like every website, the host sees the request: the page you asked for, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string and the time. This site is served by Cloudflare Pages, and those requests pass through Cloudflare's network, which keeps its own logs under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views for the site owner. It is cookieless, sets no identifier, does not track you across other sites and produces aggregate numbers — how many people read a page — not a profile of any visitor. No data from this site is sold, rented or shared.
Third-party requests
- Map tiles. The Christ the Redeemer guide contains an interactive map. Its tiles are loaded from tile.openstreetmap.org, which receives your IP address as part of serving them, under the OpenStreetMap licence and policy. No other page loads anything from a third party.
- Ordinary links. Links to official ticket portals, Commons credits and reference sources are just links. Nothing is contacted until you click, and the destination site then applies its own privacy policy.
- No advertising. There are no ad slots, no ad scripts and no affiliate tracking on any page. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the page itself before you click anything.
If you email
Messages sent to [email protected] are held in that mailbox so they can be answered. They are not added to a mailing list — there is none — and are not passed to anyone else. Ask and they will be deleted.
Your choices
Because the site stores nothing about you beyond the standard request logs described above, there is no profile to access, correct or export. If you have emailed and want that correspondence removed, say so and it will be deleted.
You can also block the OpenStreetMap tile request with any content blocker; the only effect is that the Rio map will not draw, and the rest of the guide works normally.
Changes
If the site ever adds analytics, advertising or accounts, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date below will move.
