How to plan for Eurovision Song Contest 2027

The 71st Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Burgas, Bulgaria, on 11, 13 and 15 May 2027 — two semi-finals and the final. It is the first time Bulgaria has hosted since 2007, and the host city FAQ is already live.

01 · Event details

Edition and venue

Timing: Semi-finals 11 and 13 May 2027 · final 15 May 2027 · Burgas, Bulgaria

Venue or host area: Burgas, on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, with the contest venue and the surrounding Eurovision Village announced separately by the host broadcaster. The marker shows the city, not the arena.

Access: Entry is by ticket for the semi-finals and final, sold through the official ticketing arrangements announced by the host broadcaster. No 2027 price, sale date or inventory was verified at review; fan-club pre-sales are separate from the general sale.

02 · Plan the visit

Plan around the official access route

Burgas is served by its own airport and by Varna further up the coast, with coach and rail links from Sofia. The host city FAQ sets out the venue and ticket arrangements as they are confirmed, and Eurovision tickets are typically released in waves with a fan-club pre-sale rather than a single on-sale date. Hotel capacity in a Black Sea resort town in mid-May is workable but tightens as the final approaches.

  • Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
  • Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
  • Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
  • Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview

What this event is

An annual televised song competition between member broadcasters of the European Broadcasting Union, with two semi-finals and a final, each country submitting one song. The 2027 contest is the 71st, held in Burgas, Bulgaria, on 11, 13 and 15 May, with the semi-finals reducing the field to the final alongside the automatically qualified countries.

Why it matters

Eurovision is the most watched non-sporting broadcast in the world, with audiences in the hundreds of millions across participating countries, and it is a cultural institution with its own rules — language, staging limits, voting by jury and public televote — that countries build national selections around. Winning it hands a small city a hosting obligation for the following year, which is why the contest moves to a different country almost every edition.

History

The first contest was held in 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland, with seven countries and two songs each. It has run every year since, expanded far beyond Europe to include Australia and Israel, introduced semi-finals in 2004 as the field grew, and been cancelled only once, in 2020. The 2027 edition in Burgas is Bulgaria's first time hosting.
