Plan around the official access route
Autodromo Nazionale Monza's arrival page describes public and private transport options, including rail and local buses. Event-week shuttles, parking, road restrictions and station services can change; use the current organizer page rather than a previous-edition route plan.
Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview
What this event is
The Italian Grand Prix at Monza, a purpose-built circuit inside a walled park north of Milan, held in early September. It is the fastest race of the Formula 1 season — cars run in low-drag trim and reach the highest top speeds of the year — and the layout is dominated by long straights into heavy braking chicanes, with the old banked oval still standing inside the modern track.
Monza is where Formula 1 measures speed, and its straights make it a completely different discipline from Monaco a few weeks earlier: teams bring special low-downforce bodywork used nowhere else. The Tifosi fill the park in numbers no other European round matches, and a Ferrari win here is the loudest afternoon of the season — which is why the race has kept its place on the calendar through every period of change.
History
The Italian Grand Prix was first run in 1921 and has been held at Monza since 1922, apart from 1980 when it moved to Imola while the circuit was rebuilt. It was on the original 1950 world championship calendar and has appeared in every season since. The banked oval that hosted the race in the 1950s is still inside the park, and the modern circuit has been shortened and re-profiled several times, most significantly after the 2000 deaths at the start line.
