How to plan for Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

MotoGP's 2027 calendar schedules the Australian Grand Prix for 14 November in Adelaide. The six-year city-centre venue agreement moves the event from Phillip Island to a new Adelaide street circuit beginning in 2027.

Edition and venue

Timing: Race day: 14 November 2027 · Adelaide debut; full weekend timetable to verify

Venue or host area: A new city-centre street circuit in Adelaide, debuting in 2027. The city marker is approximate; the final circuit layout and spectator zones are not represented here.

Access: MotoGP's official Australia 2027 package page currently invites visitors to join a waitlist. That does not confirm general-admission or grandstand inventory; check the event organizer's official public-ticket information separately.

02 · Plan the visit

Plan around the official access route

Do not use Phillip Island transport directions, accommodation assumptions or maps for the 2027 event. Wait for the organizer's Adelaide circuit and access plan, then confirm ticket zones, road closures and public-transport notices; this guide's pin is not the street-course route.

  • Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
  • Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
  • Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
  • Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview

What this event is

Australia's MotoGP round, scheduled for 14 November 2027 on a new street circuit in Adelaide. It moves from Phillip Island, the seaside circuit south of Melbourne that has hosted the race since 1997, where riders came off the last corner onto a straight beside the ocean and the whole lap was visible from most of the spectator banks.

Why it matters

Phillip Island was one of the most spectacular circuits in motorcycle racing — fast, flowing, set above a coastline and with a corner named after the penguin colony next to it — and replacing it with a city street circuit is the biggest venue change on the calendar. Adelaide's layout is new, so nothing about lap speed, overtaking, viewing or weather can be carried over from the old venue: the honest answer is that the 2027 race will be a different event, not a relocated one.

History

Australia has hosted a motorcycle world championship round since 1989, first at Phillip Island, then at Eastern Creek in Sydney, before Phillip Island became the permanent home in 1997. The circuit there was rebuilt after a 1998 resurfacing and has hosted a race in almost every season since. The 2027 race is the first under a multi-year Adelaide agreement, run on closed city streets rather than a permanent track.

What we could not verify

  • The official calendar confirms race day on 14 November; a complete event-weekend session timetable was not verified.
  • The exact street-circuit layout, spectator boundaries, public ticket categories, road closures and event-week transport plan need official 2027 updates.
  • The archival Phillip Island photograph is not an image of the Adelaide venue.
