How to plan for The Masters

The 2027 Masters Tournament’s competition rounds are scheduled for Thursday 8–Sunday 11 April at Augusta National Golf Club. The official ticket calendar spans 5–11 April and separates Practice Round from Daily Tournament tickets, but its readable text does not map every date to a ticket category.

01 · Event details

Edition and venue

Timing: 5–11 April 2027 ticket calendar · competition rounds 8–11 April

Venue or host area: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia. The PGA TOUR listing gives the four championship-round dates; the official ticket calendar spans a broader 5–11 April window, while the jobs page’s 3–11 April period is a wider staffing/operations window—not the Masters rounds.

Access: This was an application lottery, not a direct public sale. The official feed reports a 1–20 June 2026 application window, late-July notifications and a 7 August payment deadline; it marks the process complete and says all tickets were awarded. One household and personal-use restrictions apply, and all ages require a ticket. No current official resale or remaining-inventory route was verified.

02 · Plan the visit

Plan around the official access route

The 2027 route was an application lottery, not direct sale. The official ticketing feed says applications ran 1–20 June 2026, notifications were due in late July and payment was due 7 August; it now marks the lottery complete and says all tickets were awarded. It also states one household, personal-use limits and that all ages require a ticket. I could not verify current 2027 visitor logistics from readable organizer pages; do not reuse older parking maps or entry rules as a 2027 plan.

  • Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
  • Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
  • Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
  • Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview

What this event is

A four-day invitational tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, played in the second week of April over 72 holes with a cut after 36. The field is deliberately small — around 90 players — and the course is the same every year: wide fairways, enormous greens, pine trees, and the stretch from the 11th to the 13th that everyone calls Amen Corner.

Why it matters

The Masters is the major with the smallest field and the most recognisable setting, and because the venue never changes, its records are directly comparable across decades — which is why its champions list reads as a roll call of the sport. The green jacket, the Champions Dinner and the closing nine on Sunday are the three rituals that give it its weight, and the back nine produces more decisive swings than any other stretch in golf.

History

Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts founded the tournament in 1934 as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament, on a course built on a former nursery; it took the Masters name in 1939. The green jacket began in 1949, the Champions Dinner in 1952 and the Par 3 Contest in 1960. Admission has been ticket-only through a lottery for years, with practice-round and competition-round tickets sold separately, and the club has never published a daily attendance figure.
