Pamplona’s official tourism pages describe the recurring festival window as 6–14 July, with the Encierro bull runs from 7–14 July. The city had not published a specific 2027 programme or operations plan in the reviewed sources, so those dates are shown as the customary window rather than a confirmed 2027 schedule.

Venue or host area: San Fermín is a city-wide Pamplona festival. The City’s Encierro page describes an 848.6-metre route from Santo Domingo to the bullring; this is a standing route description, not a 2027 crowd, access or street-closure plan.
Access: City pages describe a public city festival and scheduled Encierros, while bullring seats and private balcony viewing are separate products. The sources reviewed did not establish 2027 ticket-release dates, prices or remaining inventory; verify each named event and seller separately.
02 · Plan the visit
Plan around the official access route
The City’s rulebook says the Encierro is dangerous and sets strict participation rules, including an 18+ minimum and restrictions on alcohol, clothing and objects. This guide is not encouragement to run. The public street festival, bullring admission and private-balcony products are separate; no 2027 bullring or balcony inventory was verified. Use the City’s safety rules and current local notices, and do not use the running route as a spectator route or transfer plan.
Confirm the edition: use the organiser’s latest date and venue announcement, not only a customary month.
Confirm admission: check whether access is by purchase, ballot, qualification, application or free/public entry; do not assume a ticket includes every venue or session.
Confirm local logistics: check current transport, accessibility, road closures and arrival instructions with the organiser and relevant local authority.
Protect flexibility: compare cancellation terms before booking travel around a date or route that is not fully confirmed.

04 · Overview
What this event is
Pamplona's nine-day festival in honour of San Fermín, from 6 to 14 July, whose best-known element is the encierro — a bull run through the old town streets at 8am each morning, over a route of about 850 metres from the corral to the bullring, lasting three to four minutes. The rest of the festival is processions, brass bands, giants, fireworks and a city that stays awake for a week.
San Fermín is the festival that made Pamplona famous worldwide, largely through Hemingway's 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises, and the bull run is genuinely dangerous: runners are injured every year, occasionally fatally, and the event's own rules warn that it is not a spectator sport to join casually. The festival is also a serious religious observance, with the procession of the saint on 7 July at its centre.
History
Pamplona's fiesta has medieval roots, combining a religious feast with a cattle fair, and the bull runs were formalised over the following centuries as butchers drove bulls to the ring. Hemingway's novel turned a regional Spanish festival into an international one, and the modern programme now runs nine days with daily encierros and a full schedule of music and dance.
