The 2027 dates are fixed, but there is no single general-admission ticket that guarantees a Centre Court seat. Decide between a ballot opportunity, the limited on-the-day Queue or another authorised ticket route.
A ballot offers a chance to purchase allocated tickets; it does not let an applicant pick a specific day, court or seat. The ticket-shop guidance asks prospective 2027 visitors to register interest through myWimbledon. Verify the actual 2027 entry window directly rather than applying a past year's dates.
The Queue
Wimbledon's 2026 guide describes limited day-of-play show-court tickets and Grounds Passes, one per person, subject to capacity. A Queue Card is not entry. 2027 instructions, quantities and camping arrangements must be checked when published.
Grounds Pass
Grounds access includes outside-court viewing subject to capacity; it does not reserve a Centre Court seat. Match schedules and admission conditions can change. Check what your actual ticket includes.
Debentures or official resale
Wimbledon states that debenture tickets are the only Championships tickets transferable or saleable on the open market; its Centre Court series includes 2027. Ordinary third-party resale can result in invalid tickets. Its on-site resale scheme is a different, official arrangement.
Do not book a nonrefundable trip on the assumption of a Queue place. Availability is limited and the 2027 operating rules were not established at this review. Ticket and ID requirements should be confirmed for your edition.
02 · Tactical decisions
Plan the journey to Church Road
Choose your rail approach
The organiser's transport guide estimates a walk of about 15 minutes from Southfields, 20 minutes from Wimbledon Station and 25 minutes from Wimbledon Park. These are planning estimates, not 2027 service guarantees. Check TfL's live journey planner before travel.
Check your approach and gate
Current visitor information points Southfields arrivals toward the northern gates and Wimbledon Station arrivals toward southern gates. The published 2026 daily opening and gate instructions can change; confirm your ticket's arrival advice in 2027.
Know the search and bag policy
Visitors and bags are searched. Do not pack based on an older Queue guide or ticket handbook: use the current prohibited-items list close to departure.
Arrange accessibility directly
Wimbledon's accessibility map identifies step-free routes and facilities, but an available edition is labelled 2025. Its Queue access arrangements are described for 2026. Contact the organiser for a 2027 route or Queue plan tailored to your needs.

Locate the grounds, city and airports
The Wimbledon grounds are southwest of the central-London reference at Trafalgar Square. Heathrow lies to the west-northwest and Gatwick to the south. Other London airports are not shown; choose based on your flight and check the current official journey advice.

The Championships, played over two weeks from late June at the All England Club in Wimbledon, south-west London. It is the only Grand Slam still played on grass, with eighteen grass courts and Centre Court holding around 15,000. Players wear all white, the draw is 128 per singles event, and the Queue — people camping overnight for on-the-day tickets — is a fixture of the first week.
Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the one with the strictest conventions: the clothing rule, the grass, the royal box and the Queue are all part of an identity that the club has protected deliberately. Its grass season is short — a five-week swing between the French Open and the North American hard-court events — which makes the tournament the focal point of a compressed part of the calendar.
History
The first Championships were held in 1877 at the All England Club's original Worple Road ground, with a field of 22 men and a lawn mower as part of the prize; women's singles began in 1884. The club moved to Church Road in 1922, the tournament opened to professionals in 1968, and Centre Court has carried a retractable roof since 2009. The 2027 edition runs 28 June–11 July.

A practical check before booking
Check the edition:2027 dates are 28 June–11 July; do not confuse the Church Road grounds with the separate qualifying venue.
Choose a route to admission: verify the ticket shop or updated Queue guide before making travel commitments.
Check the entitlement: Grounds Pass, allocated show-court seat and debenture are distinct; ordinary third-party resale is not a safe substitute for official channels.
Recheck operations: gate, bags, step-free approach and transport service should be confirmed for 2027 shortly before travel.
